Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We have been to Park City Cafe Rio and it was very good. We have eaten at the Heber location twice since arriving in the area. This place needs a new manager! They were completely out of their special lemonades ... All 3. Every table not occupied was dirty. Customers were cleaning tables to have a place to eat. The line to get food was not too long but it took a while to order and get food prepared. Cafe Rio is generally a good place to eat but this one location really needs help.

Needs some buttoning up at this location. PLEASE STOP YELLING FREE MEAL WHEN SOMEONE REDEEMS A FREE MEAL. Do you guys not realize how cheesy that is? TGI Fridays is pretty much gone so please don't cheapen the cafe rio brand by trying to bring back some the reasons TGI Fridays became totally irrelevant, such as singing happy birthday in front of the whole restaurant etc. we don't need gimmicks just good food.

So disorganized!!!!! They couldn't keep things going smoothly in the line so everything was getting backed up and it took over 15 min to get from order to paying and there was only two people ahead and two people behind us. Absolutely will never return to this location!!!!

Reluctantly gave this location another shot and it was just as bad as last time. World's slowest Cafe Rio! Everyone in line was complaining about the same thing and looking at each other like are these guys serious?? So bizarre that it is so much worse than every other Cafe Rio location.

Soooooooo slow. They need to speed things up. Cafe rio in Orem and Provo are better. I still go here sometimes but choose other places before it normally. It has been disappointing too many times.

My wife and I enjoy all the Cafe Rio restaurants that we have visited all over Utah and in Nevada. However, this restaurant in Heber was the exception. First of all when we went in I noticed that the restaurant was filthy. In the line where the employees make the food there was cheese, food, and sauces all over the stations. They also had no grilled stake or chicken and they were not cooking any. After we got our food tried to find a clean table to sit at. There was not a clean table in the place. (see pics) We found the best table we could and spent about 30 minutes eating our meal. Not one of the staff came out to wipe down the tables while we were there, even though several of them were standing around drinking Starbucks drinks that someone brought in for them. One person was even out in the eating area texting on her phone while ask the tables remained dirty. Do yourself a favor and do not eat at this restaurant.

Horrible horrible service! oh my heck the service is awful! Today I called in an order, was given a 30 minute wait time. Got there 10 mins early and went inside hoping it was done. There was not a single person in line, the place was dead and they started my order right then. What the heck! Why give a 30 min wait when the place is slow? Usually we are just missing half of what we ordered, it's always bad service.

This Cafe Rio is terrible. I've eaten here three times and had a very similar experience each time. They are supposedly open until 10pm, but if you show up past 8pm don't expect anything to be fresh, or the beverage bar to be completely operational. The food is always lukewarm, and the food bar is not appealing visually. I used to like Cafe Rio, but after being disappointed repeated at this location I have a bad taste in my mouth for their food all together.

I called in to order a sweet pork burrito and they told me it was going to be 20 minutes. I asked to speak with the manager and she said she can have it done in about five minutes. But, she didn't seem alarmed or annoyed at all that her employee told me 20 minutes. After having read some of these reviews, it looks like that is their protocol. One day I went there just a few minutes after they opened, and the trashcan outside the front door, was overflowing with trash, clearly left there from the night before. Disgusting and not a very good way to welcome your patrons. I would have to say that the food is about like other Café Rio's, however it just doesn't seem to taste as good when you're annoyed and grossed out.

I've gotta be honest. This cafe rio just isn't up to speed, the food seems to be yesterday's leftovers, and honestly I keep giving them one more chance but they get our orders wrong every time and the food taste at least a day old. They just struggle there. The shrimp tacos taste like they got Kentucky fried chickens leftover "popcorn shrimp" from yesterday and threw them in. (I had an employee tell me while paying that they were cooked yesterday...that was encouraging to hear!!! Yikes). I'm sorry but I've not had a decent experience here yet and I keep giving them a chance but I'm sitting here tonight thinking what a huge waste of money. I'm not beating up Cafe Rio Franchise because everywhere else has been great. This cafe rio has business because it's the only one within 30 miles and people don't want to run to park city when they get in a cafe rio mood.

Absolutely horrendous service. I am a loyal cafe rio goer. I love their product. Every other location in Utah gets what it takes to run a successful cafe rio. Not at the heber location. The lines are at least 10x slower, the food is never as good, and they are always, ALWAYS out of something. I've been there before when they were out of lettuce. We ate there tonight and the co2 was out.. When I told them it was out, "o, ok. We will have to get that fixed tomorrow.".... So for the people eating there tonight..? The lettuce was soggy and wet. The meat was disgusting. You get the picture. We will be driving to park city from now on. Such a disappointment!

This location is horrible! I am a loyal Rio lover and this location is horrible! Poor service, poor food, messy prep line. No one was working together. It was awful! I walked out without my order after 20 mi Utes and they were not even busy. Don't bother!
(1)Marti M.
This location SUCKS! Every other Cafe Rio I have been to is amazing! Not the one in Heber but then anything in Heber is disgusting! Ordered chicken nachos no cheese and the chicken tasted like plastic! How hard is it to make Nachos? Get it together already you have been open long enough!
(1)Cassie R.
Heber Cafe Rio is the worst. I tried to go online and fill out a form online and it wasn't working. I called the manager regarding the food and he didn't care. They were out of grilled chicken and pulled pork at 7:30pm on a Friday night. I have given this location so many chances and every time I am disappointed by the customer service and food. I feel bad that Cafe Rio has it's name on a place that doesn't care about quality and consistency. I will be taking my business to Park City, Orem or ANYWHERE else that isn't the Heber location. By the way, if some Cafe Rio exec actually reads this (which they won't) please tell your employees that standing in line to order something and throwing food back and forth between other employees is disgusting.

WORST CAFE RIO IN UTAH! The service is awful, the staff spend more time chatting to each other than concentrating on what you're saying! The quality of the ingredients are always poor! (Wilted lettuce, black guacamole). They are always out of something BASIC. On two occasions they have been out of RICE!... RICE!!! Always understaffed too! I ONLY go there at off peak hours because during lunch/dinner it takes FOREVER! Just awful!
(1)Holly W.
I called in a phone order, told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Showed up 40 minutes later, they hadn't even made my meal. People come thru the line AFTER I arrived got their food before me. I complained to the manager on duty and was ignored. This is my 3rd time ordering via phone or internet and it's never done by the promised time. I'm done with this location. Corporate needs to step in and fix this location!

I love Cafe Rio. I love their sweet pork, their salads, and their burritos. Having said that... This location needs a complete firing and rehiring of their staff. I've witnessed people intentionally hanging up on phone-in orders, been hung up on myself, and have waited over 20 minutes for a TO GO order that was phoned in. I've watched food dropped on the floor and employees stepping in it with no clean-up because they are so behind orders. They are slow, slow, slow and slow. I won't be going back until things improve.

I have gone to Cafe Rio In Park City for years, so when they finally opened one in Heber I as so glad. Boy they need some training from the Park City staff. The food never tastes as good, they just do not seem to have their act together. Have Park City work with them - Help them please. I will not be going back to this location very soon unless I hear otherwise. Park City for me!
(2)Chad H.
I usually like cafe rio but this one doesn't match up to the rest. The service left something to be desired as did the food. I got the nachos which are hard to screw up but my wife got the tostada and said it was not good. Also when we were there the place was a mess. The serving area had gross old food spilled everywhere, almost ruined my appetite. Almost. Do yourself a favor and drive the 20 min to the Park City cafe rio, it's much much better.
(1)Jesse R.
I'm not sure why everybody hates on this location so much. I've always found it to be just as good as all of the other Cafe Rio locations, which is excellent. I just tried the chile rellenos tonight and it might be my new favorite. Great food, great service every time that I have gone.

This is the WORST Cafe Rio in the State of Utah!!! The service and management is horrible, the restaurant is dirty, the food taste terrible and, they NEVER get your order right! I will never eat at this location again! Wish I could give it zero stars.
(1)Amy K.
I love Cafe Rio and enjoy the food. But it would probably be a more efficient use of time to drive to Provo and stand in line and then drive back to Heber. Slow doesn't even begin to describe the pace here.
(1)Shannon S.
We were very excited to see cafe rio come to heber unfortunately this one does not hold a candle to the pc or provo. Twice I've went in here to get a fire grilled chicken salad both times we have nO chicken for at least 20 minutes then when I did get it it was burnt. Ordered chips and cheese we got our cheese but no chips until we almost finished our meal. Then one of the employees was seriously trashing the manager to customers whom ever owns this location might think about cleaning house and starting over.
(1)Patrick D.
Probably the slowest one I've ever been to! How do you run out of sweet pork? Hopefully they get their act together
(2)Kailee M.
I love Cafe Rio but this one is broke down. They constantly run out of food and it slows the line down a LOT. It's so annoying to stand in line for 25 minutes when there's only 5 people in it!!
(1)Emily O.
Cafe Rio is Cafe Rio is Cafe Rio. Right? WRONG! Heber City's Cafe Rio is seriously lacking. Food is over salty, lines are always horribly long and their call ahead pick up is a disaster. I called ahead an order tonight and they told me to pick it up in 30 minutes. I thought that was a little long but maybe they were busy. I arrived right on time to pickup our order and somehow they couldn't find it. After about 10 minutes searching by three different employees they found it under the name "burrito" (easy mistake). At that time they asked if I would change all of my items to steak rather than chicken. You see, they ran out of chicken and it was cooking. If I wanted to wait 45 minutes I could have the meals I ordered 45 minutes ago. Naturally I told them not to bother and that sort of information is most helpful to a customer at the time they place an order. Instead I wasted an hour and a half waiting for nothing. We ended up with salads from Kneaders. If you don't mind the long lines or salty food or incompetent service this is the place for you.

This location stinks only 30% of the employees care about the work they are doing. If you want a half way decent meal you best hope they are working. Management stinks they need to revamp this whole operation. They always run out of food or burn it. It amazes me to see how well organized other rio locations are. This location Can barely handle a line of five people. If a costa vida moved here with better management. people who where craving this style of food would walk out of rio and go to costa vida.
